The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), has confirmed 195 new COVID-19 cases in the country, taking Nigeria’s total cases to 3145.
* Airlines Lose N17bn Monthly – Sirika
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has stated that the sector has been the worst hit since the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged the country.
According to him, airlines have lost nearly N17 billion monthly since their operations were grounded, as part of efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
“We are in very difficult moments like everyone else. All of this started because someone travelled and unfortunately came back home with it and the consequence is what we’ve been going through.
“We are the worst hit, than any other sector. Some N17 billion monthly is being lost by the airlines, thanks to COVID-19,” the minister said during the Presidential Task Force briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja on Wednesday.
* NNPC reduces ex-depot price of petrol to 108 per litre
The new price was said to have been arrived at after extensive review of market realities by the PPMC internal price review unit.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N113.28k per litre to N108.00K per litre across all its products loading facilities.
This was contained in a statement issued by the corporation’s spokesman, Dr Kenny Obateru in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said the Managing Director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Musa Lawan, disclosed that the new ex-depot price of PMS reflects the company’s market strategy.
According to him, the strategy will help to make more sales while complying with the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency’s (PPPRA) price template.
* 37 Covid-19 patients discharged in Lagos State
The Lagos State Government has discharged 37 more Covid-19 patients from its 3 treatment centres.
This was made known on the verified Twitter handle of the State Government on Wednesday.
The patients are 19 females and 18 males including a foreign national and an Indian.
The discharged patients are 5 from the Infectious Disease Hospital Yaba, 25 from Onikan and 7 from the Eti-Osa (LandMark) treatment centres who have fully recovered and tested negative on 2 consecutive occasions to Covid-19.
With this, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged in Lagos State has risen to 358
* 256 Nigerians From Dubai Arrive In Lagos
The federal government has successfully evacuated the first batch of Nigerians stuck abroad amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday, 256 Nigerians arrived in Lagos from Dubai on an Emirates Airline flight.
The Emirates flight is expected to be the first of at least two other flights scheduled to evacuate Nigerians within the next few days.
The foreign ministry said it has made arrangements for hotel accommodations in Lagos and Abuja, which will be used to quarantine the incoming citizens.
The hotels have been inspected by the “Port Health Services, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Office of the National Security Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IPC,” the ministry said.
